PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY
Online counselling at www.babyandbeyond.net.au is conducted with the absolute privacy and confidentiality of face-to-face counselling. This means that anything you type is between your Counsellor, Melissa Hughes and you ONLY. Your information will never be shared with anyone else nor will your personal information be used for any other reason than counselling purposes.
These procedures are required by the Privacy Amendment Act 2000. Please read the following carefully and if you have any concerns, please email these to your Counsellor, Melissa Hughes before agreeing with the Privacy and Confidentiality agreement below.
The nature and content of your online discussions with your Counsellor, as well as the fact that you are a client of Baby and Beyond Parental Counselling, is confidential.
Your Counsellor can only speak to someone else about you or let somebody else know that you have contacted them, if they have your express verbal permission or written consent. There are some exceptions to this, which you need to be aware of.

If you disclose to your Counsellor information regarding the ongoing abuse of a child, this information may need to be passed on to the appropriate authorities.

If your Counsellor has reason to believe that you may be in danger of physically hurting yourself or somebody else, then other people (such as family, friends or emergency services) may need to be advised in order to protect you and others.

If legal proceedings are taken out against yourself or Baby and Beyond – Parental Counselling relating to your situation, then your file may be subpoenaed by a court of law. You will be informed should this occur.

In order to comply with professional and ethical requirements, all CAPA registered Counsellors are required to undertake regular supervision with a suitable qualified professional. On such occasions, names and other identifying details will not be disclosed and anonymity is assured.
